Whidbey Audubon Society Conservation Scholarships
Whidbey Audubon Society will award one $2,000 and two $1,000 Scholarships
Whidbey Island resident.
Graduate of a Whidbey Island High School, spring 2017; plan to attend an accredited four-year college/university, 2017.
Plan to major in an environment-related field such as environmental studies, resource management, sustainable development, restoration, or natural resources education.
Participation in an environment-related activity on Whidbey Island.
Application should contain:
Applicant information: name, address, phone number, email.
High School transcript with current GPA (latest available).
Essay: 250-500 words, word processed, double-spaced: “Why I plan to major in the
environment-related field of _____________________.
Letter of recommendation (1) from a high school teacher.
Available through high school counselors’ offices.
Available on Whidbey Audubon Society’s website, (www.whidbeyaudubon.org).
Application deadline: Friday, March 10, 2017 for all Whidbey Island high schools. Scholarship applications will be picked up at the high schools by Whidbey Audubon members.
Whidbey Audubon Society’s Education Committee will review applications, schedule interviews and make all final decisions. Recipients will be notified in April and invited to attend our May Whidbey Audubon Society meeting at the Community Recreation Hall in Coupeville on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Scholarship certificates will be presented on Senior Awards nights. All scholarships will be paid directly to the student’s college or university.
